About our Macclesfield service

Macclesfield is east Cheshire market town on the edge of the Peak District, historically a silk town, now with pharmaceutical employers and commuter suburbs. We know the area well: we provide soft washing on behalf of homeowners, landlords, managing agents and commercial property owners across Macclesfield, from Upton Priory, Hurdsfield and Weston.

We provide soft washing throughout Macclesfield and the surrounding Cheshire area. Whether it is a small one-off job or a larger project, we give you one clear price before anything is booked in.

Around Macclesfield you will mostly find Weavers' cottages, Victorian terraces and suburban detached homes, and we price every job around the building, parking and access and when you need it done.

With red-brick terraces, mill conversions, 1930s semis and plenty of commercial and industrial premises, Cheshire has a wide range of surfaces that suit low-pressure soft washing, from render and brick to stone and cladding.

Homes in Macclesfield with silicone or acrylic render often show the first green streaks on north-facing gable ends within a few years of being rendered.

What chemicals are used in soft washing?

Most soft wash solutions are based on sodium hypochlorite, the active ingredient in bleach, diluted to a strength that suits the surface, with a surfactant to help it cling. Some jobs use quaternary ammonium biocides instead, which work more slowly over days or weeks and are often used on roofs and delicate stone. The solution is matched to the surface and the type of staining.

What to have ready for your Macclesfield quote

  • Take photos of each side of the property, the roof and any outbuildings you want cleaned
  • Note the type of surface, such as silicone render, painted render, brick, stone or concrete tiles
  • Ask which product will be used on your surface and request the safety data sheet
  • Confirm the work will be done at low pressure, not with a pressure washer on render or roofs
  • Ask how plants, lawns, ponds and windows will be protected
