Soft washing across Yorkshire
Yorkshire has stone-built terraces, back-to-backs, 1930s semis and large modern estates. Soft washing is a low-pressure cleaning method for building exteriors. Instead of blasting dirt off with a high-pressure jet, a cleaning solution containing a biocide is applied at roughly garden-hose pressure, left to kill the algae, mould, lichen and bacteria living on the surface, then rinsed away. Because the organisms are killed rather than just knocked back, the surface usually stays clean for much longer than after a pressure wash.
